• this rare vintage 1960's brutlaist ceramic vase by Pieter Groeneveldt of Netherlands is a fine example of his craftsmanship and unique approach which made him world famous
• Pieter Groeneveldt was born in 1889 in Batavia, the former Dutch Indies.  He died in 1982 in Voorschoten, the Netherlands at the age of 93. He was a Dutch artist and ceramist who was active during the greater part of the twentieth century in the Netherlands
• in the 1960's he introduced an effect on his ceramic pieces, creating a stony rough surface wiped with a dark glaze, referred to as 'Travertijn'
• recently, Groeneveldt's ceramics have been receiving an increasing appreciation
• his work is much sought after these days and is becoming more difficult to acquire
• perfect accent to any mid-century styled setting
