this rare vintage 1960's brutlaist ceramic chimney vase by Pieter Groeneveldt of Netherlands is a fine example of his craftsmanship and unique approach which made him world famous
Pieter Groeneveldt was born in 1889 in Batavia, the former Dutch Indies. He died in 1982 in Voorschoten, the Netherlands at the age of 93. He was a Dutch artist and ceramist who was active during the greater part of the twentieth century in the Netherlands
in the 1960's he introduced an effect on his ceramic pieces, creating a stony rough surface wiped with a dark glaze, referred to as 'Travertijn'
recently, Groeneveldt's ceramics have been receiving an increasing appreciation
his work is much sought after these days and is becoming more difficult to acquire
perfect accent to any mid-century styled setting
